- Only Long-Term NSAIDs Improve OA Stiffness, Function. Long-term use of prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) by patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) is associated with clinically important but not statistically significant improvement in patient-reported stiffness and function and joint-space width.
