As a medical student at Boston University and a resident at Boston Medical Center, I saw Dr. Hirsch in action on more than a few occasions during my rotations in surgery and the emergency room.
This glowing obituary only gives a glimpse of his contributions. He is truly a giant in trauma surgery and revered within the medical community.
A tremendous loss, and he will be missed.
