  1. IMPROVE-IT Results Turn Up Volume on Guideline Debate. The long-awaited results of the IMPROVE-IT study comparing Vytorin (ezetimibe/simvastatin) to simvastatin in high-risk patients revealed a small but significant benefit, and a large — and possibly equally significant — rift regarding the cardiovascular prevention guidelines.
  2. State Exchange Situations Vary at Start of Open Enrollment. As open enrollment begins this week for health insurance plans in exchanges run by the states and the federal government, patients and providers alike are waiting to see whether this second year of the exchanges will proceed more smoothly than the first year.
  3. Stent Graft Keeps Vascular Access Clear. A stent graft may improve vascular access patency in dialysis patients who’ve had stenosis in an original venous stent.
  4. More Dialysis May Not Be Better. More dialysis may not be better when it comes to quality of life.
