Dr. Charles has written a book
“I will be donating a percentage of any sales to charities such as Doctors Without Borders. For now, I’m going to give 25% to The Red Cross for their efforts in Hurricane Katrina relief (this is assuming that proceeds total more than a 37 cent stamp).
For thousands of other physician-writers, the doctor-patient relationship has been a fertile ground for understanding our humanity, our tragic vulnerabilities, and our heroic, existentialistic pride. It has been a crucible of birth, death, wit, and wisdom. There are moments of unforeseen danger, and times of merciful laughter.
In the fictional writings on this site I have tried to capture the realities of my first year in practice. Although the characters have sprung from my own imagination, most of the experiences have not.
I hope you enjoy a few of these. Perhaps you have a friend who would enjoy them, or want to give a wildly original gift.”
