On May 25, 2020, I published the first episode of The Podcast by KevinMD. The idea was simple: give a microphone to the many who intersect with our health care system but are rarely heard from.
The show has since grown into something I did not fully anticipate. As of today, there are 2,288 episodes, about 15 minutes each, with a new one almost every day: 365 episodes in 2023 and another 365 in 2024. The podcast has passed 2.8 million downloads. Physicians, nurses, medical students, patients, caregivers, and health care leaders have joined me to talk about burnout, private equity, moral injury, artificial intelligence, end-of-life care, and much more. Nearly every episode has a full transcript on KevinMD.
That depth created a problem. Until now, finding a specific conversation meant scrolling through years of episodes. So the podcast has a new home page: The Podcast by KevinMD. Here is what you will find there:
- Search: Type a guest’s name or a topic, and the search looks through the titles, guests, and summaries of all 2,288 episodes. The best match comes first, and each result shows how often the episode mentions your words. Try “private equity” (13 episodes), “moral injury” (12), or “artificial intelligence” (36). One click searches inside the transcripts too, and if the summaries turn up nothing, the search checks the transcripts on its own.
- Most popular episodes: Updated every night.
- Browse by year: From 2020 to today, with the number of episodes in each year.
- Latest episodes: Newest first, each with a link to listen in Apple Podcasts.
- Subscribe buttons: For Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.
A few things you may not know:
- Every episode ends with the same question: What take-home message do you want to leave with the KevinMD audience? The answers, attributed to each guest by name and date, are collected in one place: Take-home messages.
- Each episode page carries its full transcript, so you can read instead of listen, or quote a guest accurately.
- Many episodes began as KevinMD articles, and those articles now link to the episode they inspired. Enhanced author pages also list each guest’s podcast appearances.
- The old podcast category address now leads to the new page, so existing links and bookmarks still work.
Want to be a guest? Most guests start as KevinMD writers, so the first step is to submit an article. Subscribers to the KevinMD enhanced author page get a guaranteed interview.
If you are already a listener, thank you. Please rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts or Spotify so more people can find it.
