A routine trip to the optometrist leads to a surprising diagnosis.
Dr. Val’s right eye “looked like an 85-year-old’s,” and is diagnosed with a case of retinal thinning.
It’s a frustrating disease, as there’s no cure, and the most an ophthalmologist can do is monitor the progression yearly.
Dr. Val puts a positive spin on the situation however, saying “it [may] it bring me wisdom, courage, and more empathy for patients.”
