  1. USPSTF: Routine Vitamin D Screening Unsupported. There is not enough evidence that vitamin D screening is beneficial in routine practice and therefore it can’t be recommended, according to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.
  2. SLE Patients See Good Outcomes in Blood Cancers. Risk of hematologic malignancy may be increased in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus compared with the general population, but outcomes with these cancers are about the same.
  3. Long-term Benefit With Stem-Cell Transplant in Scleroderma. Patients with rapidly progressing systemic sclerosis (SSc) showed sustained benefits over 5 years after autologous hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT), compared with nontransplanted patients.
  4. Study Links Ankylosing Spondylitis and CVD. Canadian researchers have shown for the first time that patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) face an increased risk of death from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease.
