1. Predicting Death in Advanced Cancer. Late-occurring signs of declining neurocognitive function proved to be highly specific and highly likely markers of impending death in patients with advanced-stage cancer.
2. JAK-3 Drug Effective in RA, but Safe? The oral selective JAK-3 inhibitor decernotinib was associated with significant improvements in symptom relief for rheumatoid arthritis in a multicenter phase IIa trial, but dose-related safety signals emerged during the study.
3. Study Questions Value of Long Resuscitation in Drowned Kids. Negative outcomes were seen in drowned children who couldn’t be resuscitated within 30 minutes.
4. Older Patients Benefit From ICD Placement. Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) improve survival even in the oldest, sickest heart failure patients, but advancing age appears to lessen this survival advantage.
