  1. FDA Advisory Committee Hesitates to Endorse Message of Safe Smokeless Tobacco. An FDA advisory panel were reluctant to recommend a gentler warning label for one brand of smokeless tobacco products at a committee hearing on Friday.
  2. The Skinny on Dementia and Being Skinny. Individuals with body mass index values below 20 in middle age were significantly more likely than those of normal weight to develop dementia later on.
  3. Ebola Still Emergency in West Africa. Despite a downward trend in new cases, the Ebola epidemic in West Africa remains an international public health emergency.
  4. Coalition Hopes To Amp Up Push For Health Care Transparency. As consumers increasingly are being asked to pay a larger share of their health bills, a coalition of insurers, pharmaceutical companies, and provider and consumer advocacy groups launched Thursday a new push for greater transparency regarding the actual costs of services.
