  1. Kids from Military Families Less Likely to be Fully Immunized. Young children in military families were less likely to be up to date with their vaccinations than other U.S. children, according to National Immunization Survey data (NIS) from 2007 to 2012.
  2. Delay Threatened for SGR Repeal. Conservative objections over spending are raising doubts over whether the U.S. Senate can quickly approve legislation fixing the Medicare physician payment system, in a possible setback for Republicans keen to show they can get things done.
  3. New Meaning for Meaningful Use? In an apparent response to providers’ concerns with the Meaningful Use program, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced a proposed rule to simplify meaningful use.
  4. Opioids During Pregnancy Put Babies at Risk. Babies born to women who used opioid pain relievers in pregnancy were more likely to be born small and to face additional health problems than babies whose mothers did not use opioids, according to a large, population-based study of Tennessee mothers and infants in the Medicaid program.
